Akali Leader Bikram Majithia Issues 'Prove or Apologise' Challenge to AAP Over Drug Case Allegations
Senior SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia has challenged AAP leaders Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann to produce concrete evidence or issue an apology regarding drug trafficking allegations.

Political Showdown in Chandigarh
A fresh political confrontation has erupted between the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia. During a press conference in Chandigarh on Tuesday, Majithia launched a scathing attack on AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, accusing them of deliberately misleading the public by linking his disproportionate assets (DA) case to historical drug trafficking allegations.
Majithia asserted that the government was attempting to deflect public attention away from mounting concerns over the state's law-and-order situation and persistent drug issues. Challenging the AAP leadership to substantiate their claims, he demanded that they produce concrete evidence before the public and rely on actual court records rather than political rhetoric.
Legal Standing and Court Records
Addressing reporters alongside his legal counsel, DS Sobti, Majithia maintained that the state administration had failed to establish any direct or indirect link between him and the alleged drug money cited in ongoing investigations. Sobti argued that financial transactions and property details scrutinized under the disproportionate assets case cannot be automatically classified as evidence of drug trafficking without strict judicial verification.
Defense counsel pointed to ongoing proceedings before the Punjab and Haryana High Court and the Supreme Court, emphasizing the stringent bail provisions under Section 37 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. According to the legal team, public claims made by political figures must be measured against verified judicial records rather than manipulated for political narratives.
Majithia also reminded the public of Kejriwal's previous unconditional apology submitted in a court in 2018 regarding similar allegations, accusing the AAP leadership of reviving debunked claims purely for political mileage.
Diversionary Tactics Alleged
Majithia concluded by challenging the AAP government to present any new evidence through proper legal channels instead of making unsubstantiated claims outside the courtroom. He urged the Mann administration to focus on governance and address the core challenges facing Punjab rather than pursuing what he termed a politically motivated campaign against his character.
