Election Machinery Gears Up

New Delhi — Electoral authorities in the national capital have processed and disposed of more than 1 lakh Form 6 applications seeking inclusion in the voter lists since the publication of draft rolls on August 31, according to data reviewed by Daily News 365.

The rigorous exercise, part of the broader Special Intensive Revision (SIR) protocol, is presently entering its final operational phase. Election officials have been working around the clock to verify credentials, field submissions, and ensure the integrity of the capital's democratic framework.

Surge in Applications

Official figures indicate a massive influx of requests from citizens looking to secure their voting rights, particularly first-time voters and eligible residents moving into new constituencies across Delhi.

- Total Applications Received: 4,56,913 cumulative filings up to October 20. - Pre-Draft Phase: 2,12,400 applications submitted and logged by August 30. - Post-Draft Surge: An additional 2,44,513 applications filed between August 31 and October 20.

Verification and Transparency

Speaking on condition of anonymity, senior election officials noted that field-level verification teams have expedited house-to-house inspections to cross-check particulars furnished in the Form 6 filings. The expedited processing aims to ensure that eligible individuals are granted voting rights well ahead of upcoming electoral timelines, while simultaneously weeding out discrepancies or duplicate entries.

Daily News 365 will continue to track the finalization of the electoral rolls as the administrative body publishes updated statistics in the coming weeks.
