Gurugram Hit-And-Run: SIT Concludes Biker Sia Was Intentionally Rammed, Murder Charges to Stand
A Special Investigation Team has concluded that the collision involving Instagram biker Shivani Chauhan was a calculated attack rather than an accident.

Investigation Findings Point to Deliberate Attack
NEW DELHI — Over a month after a high-profile collision on Gurugram’s Golf Course Road shook the cycling and motorcycling communities, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the incident has concluded that the crash was a calculated, intentional act rather than a tragic accident.
The five-member SIT, headed by ACP (Crimes Against Women) Sushila, submitted its comprehensive report to the Gurugram Police Commissioner. According to senior law enforcement officials, the probe established that the primary accused, Kalyan Bainsla, deliberately steered his vehicle into sports motorcycle rider Shivani Chauhan—widely known on social media as 'Rebel Wheels Sia'—following an earlier altercation and targeted harassment.
Investigators have confirmed that all stringent charges outlined in the initial First Information Report (FIR), crucially including the charge of attempt to murder, will be retained in the forthcoming chargesheet.
Recap of the September 13 Incident
The harrowing sequence of events unfolded on the morning of September 13. Shivani Chauhan was riding her Aprilia RS 457 sports motorcycle in tandem with a group of fellow riders along Gurugram's prominent Golf Course Road.
According to the police complaint, a white Maruti Suzuki Ciaz began trailing the group. Chauhan alleged that the occupants of the sedan repeatedly maneuvered dangerously close to her machine and subjected her to inappropriate gestures. She further stated that the four individuals inside the vehicle appeared to be heavily intoxicated.
As the situation escalated, the white sedan sped ahead, abruptly cut off Chauhan's motorcycle, and rammed into it before fleeing the scene. The impact sent the biker tumbling across the asphalt. Sparks erupted as the metal components of the sports bike dragged along the road surface, a terrifying moment partially preserved by an action camera mounted on her motorcycle. Chauhan sustained minor injuries to her extremities.
The case gained widespread national traction after Chauhan published footage of the ordeal on her Instagram account, prompting swift public outrage and subsequent police intervention.
Legal Proceedings and Chargesheet
Following a manhunt, Gurugram Police successfully apprehended Kalyan Bainsla and an associate, Lavnish, in Rajgarh village located in Dausa, Rajasthan. Both suspects remain detained in Gurugram's Bhondsi Jail after local courts rejected their applications for bail.
While in custody, Bainsla initially admitted to colliding with the motorcycle but contested allegations of deliberate intent, arguing that he had merely lost control of his vehicle near a designated U-turn.
The SIT report firmly rejected this defense. "The SIT has prepared a draft of the chargesheet. The chargesheet will be filed in court within a week, in accordance with the sections of law applied in the FIR," stated ACP Sushila.
The Gurugram police originally registered the case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), encompassing stalking (Section 78), outraging the modesty of a woman (Section 79), attempt to murder (Section 109), and common intention (Section 3(5)). The establishment of the SIT followed directives issued by the Haryana Commission for Women and Police Commissioner Sibash Kaviraj.
