India Issues Urgent Advisory for Umrah Pilgrims Stranded in Saudi Arabia Amid Regional Conflict
India has issued a fresh advisory for nationals and Umrah pilgrims stranded in Saudi Arabia following widespread flight disruptions caused by escalating regional conflict.

Government Steps In Amid Flight Cancellations
JEDDAH/NEW DELHI — The Indian government has issued a fresh and urgent advisory for its nationals currently in Saudi Arabia, with a particular focus on Umrah pilgrims impacted by ongoing flight cancellations. The disruptions come in the wake of escalating regional tensions triggered by drone and missile attacks targeting civilian infrastructure by Yemen's Houthi movement.
Diplomatic missions are actively coordinating with authorities in the Gulf Kingdom to facilitate the safe and early return of all affected Indian citizens.
24x7 Control Rooms and On-Ground Support
The Consulate General of India in Jeddah has confirmed that its round-the-clock control rooms operating in both Jeddah and Makkah remain fully operational. Working in close collaboration with local community associations and volunteers, mission officials are extending immediate assistance to stranded nationals.
Relief efforts include the distribution of food supplies, essential medicines, and addressing other critical immediate requirements for pilgrims whose stays have been unexpectedly prolonged.
Diplomatic Engagement and Pilgrim Care
Indian diplomatic missions are maintaining continuous communication with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. These high-level discussions are aimed at swiftly resolving complications arising from extended stays, specifically concerning visa validity, departure delays, and accommodation issues.
Pilgrims facing difficulties with lodging or related services have been advised to directly contact the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah's Pilgrim Care Centre to formally register their concerns and obtain a unique case reference number.
Travel Rebooking and Alternative Arrangements
To address the transport bottleneck, the Indian consulate is maintaining regular contact with both domestic and international carriers over flight cancellations and passenger grievances regarding ticket refunds.
In an effort to expedite departures, the mission has begun connecting Indian Umrah tour operators with airlines that continue to maintain active flight routes to India. Authorities noted that alternative travel arrangements remain contingent upon seat availability, applicable fare structures, and compliance with airline regulations.
Stranded individuals have been strongly advised to remain in constant touch with their respective airlines, travel agents, and Umrah tour operators to actively manage cancellations, rebookings, refunds, and revised itineraries.
