A Close Call Turns Tragic for Bystanders

MUMBAI — Veteran Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff has personally reached out to Umesh Chauhan, the bystander critically injured after being shot in the chest during an apparent targeted attack on his son, actor Tiger Shroff.

The harrowing incident unfolded outside a bustling football stadium where a large crowd had gathered to catch a glimpse of the action star, known for his martial arts prowess and high-octane blockbusters. According to law enforcement and eyewitness accounts gathered by Daily News 365, two unidentified assailants opened fire on Tiger Shroff’s vehicle as it attempted to exit the venue.

While the primary target escaped unhurt—reportedly due to a lucky mechanical malfunction where the gunman's weapon jammed at point-blank range—the collateral violence struck ordinary citizens and staff. Both Chauhan and Shroff's personal driver sustained gunshot wounds during the sudden barrage.

A Personal Promise from the Shroff Family

Demonstrating solidarity during a crisis, the senior Shroff placed a direct phone call to Chauhan while the fan was undergoing medical treatment. Sources close to the family revealed that Jackie Shroff expressed profound concern over the horrific turn of events and assured the victim of his full support.

"Jackie spoke to Umesh directly, offering words of comfort and a firm promise to visit him in the hospital personally as soon as the immediate security situation stabilizes and law enforcement allows," said an insider familiar with the interaction.

The attack has sent shockwaves through the Hindi film industry, triggering fresh debates over celebrity security protocols and the vulnerability of crowds gathered outside public appearances.

Police Investigation Underway

Mumbai Police have launched a multi-pronged manhunt, scouring CCTV footage from the stadium perimeter and surrounding roadways to trace the two suspects involved in the shooting. Forensic teams recovered multiple shell casings from the scene, which have been sent for ballistic analysis.

Authorities have registered a case of attempted murder and relevant sections of the Arms Act. As security details around prominent Bollywood figures are aggressively re-evaluated, investigators are probing multiple angles, including potential extortion or targeted intimidation, to unearth the masterminds behind the brazen daylight assault.
