Security Heightened Across Mumbai After Threat Email

Security agencies and the Mumbai Police have been placed on high alert following a threatening email sent to Mayor Ritu Tawde, warning of coordinated attacks across multiple high-profile locations in the metropolis.

The menacing communication, which was also marked to Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi, specifically cited threats against the mayor's office at the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) headquarters, veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan’s Juhu bungalow 'Jalsa', a local school, and an upcoming live concert by Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh.

Thorough Searches Yield No Suspicious Objects

Prompted by the gravity of the threat, bomb detection and disposal squads, along with local police units, conducted exhaustive searches across the targeted sites. Authorities confirmed that a thorough sweep of the mayor's office at the BMC headquarters yielded nothing suspicious.

Despite the initial negative sweep, law enforcement has refused to lower its guard. According to police sources, the email made references to 'Khalistan' and outlined a timeline of alleged threats, including a claimed grenade attack on a school and sustained targeting of Bachchan's residence spanning several weeks.

Comprehensive Investigation Underway

Law enforcement authorities have launched a comprehensive multi-agency cyber and ground investigation to trace the origin of the IP address, identify the sender, and verify the authenticity of the claims made in the communication.

As a precautionary measure, instructions have been issued to significantly step up surveillance and security protocols at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse—the venue for Diljit Dosanjh’s scheduled November 27 concert—as well as prominent educational institutions, municipal offices, and other landmarks mentioned in the alert.
