PM Modi Labels Congress a 'Parasite' That Suppresses Honest Dissent and Parliamentary Talent
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress, calling the party a 'parasite' that stifles genuine democratic dissent and overshadows emerging parliamentary talent.

Prime Minister Alleges Internal Discord Within Opposition Ranks
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a severe critique of the Congress party, branding it a "parasite" that actively undermines genuine dissent movements and overshadows honest critics within India's political landscape. Delivering a keynote address at a major policy summit in New Delhi, the Prime Minister accused the main opposition party of creating continuous political noise that drowns out constructive opposition.
Without naming individuals directly, the Prime Minister used the term "failed product" to describe ongoing efforts to relaunch the party's leadership, suggesting that these persistent maneuvers have created visible cracks within the broader opposition alliance.
Stifling Democratic Movements and Parliamentary Voices
Addressing a gathering of policymakers, experts, and journalists, the Prime Minister emphasized that while natural public movements aimed at government reform are essential for a healthy democracy, their objectives are often co-opted or lost in the turbulence generated by the Congress.
"Those who want to speak against the government democratically, their voice too gets lost in the Congress's noise," PM Modi stated. He further claimed that ideological influences, which he termed "dimagi naxals," have severely eroded the party's independent capacity for analytical thought.
Shifting his focus to proceedings within the legislature, the Prime Minister alleged that the party prevents younger, talented MPs from opposition ranks from making substantive contributions during parliamentary debates. He claimed that the leadership routinely monopolizes the political spotlight, leaving little room for alternative voices to emerge within the house.
Allegations Concerning Party Leadership and Family Centrality
PM Modi also addressed internal dissent within the opposition camp, asserting that senior party figures are increasingly frustrated with the unwavering centralization of authority around the Gandhi family. He claimed that while veteran leaders often express private dissatisfaction regarding electoral setbacks, they remain publicly silent out of party discipline.
"The grapes are so sour that Congress has set about cutting down the vine itself... To shield its family from the constant stain of failure, Congress is now putting India's achievements, India's virtues and India's progress itself in the dock."
Opposition Response
The remarks drew swift rebuttals from opposition figures. Senior Congress leader and spokesperson Pawan Khera took to social media to respond to the Prime Minister's assertions, advising the administration to focus on governance rather than internal opposition dynamics.
