Tech CEO Arrested in Chennai Over Financial Influencer's Tragic Suicide
Tambaram Police have arrested tech CEO and YouTuber Jason Samuel following a complaint linking his social media posts to the suicide of influencer Harish.

Investigation Leads to Judicial Custody
CHENNAI — Law enforcement authorities in Chennai have taken 30-year-old tech CEO and prominent YouTuber Jason Samuel into custody in connection with the tragic death of financial content creator Harish. Samuel was produced before a local court, which subsequently remanded him to judicial custody as the investigation unfolds.
The case stems from a formal complaint lodged by the victim's father, who alleged that Samuel engaged in systematic extortion and targeted his son with defamatory social media remarks. According to police records, these incidents caused severe emotional distress to the 27-year-old influencer prior to his death.
The Incident and Legal Charges
Harish, who managed the widely followed finance channel "Finance With Harish," was found dead at a rented villa near Muttukadu in Chennai. Investigators have registered a formal case against Samuel under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which addresses the abetment of suicide.
According to the police, the complaint highlighted a specific video published by Samuel on October 18, which openly questioned Harish's credentials from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI). The father's statement asserts that this broadcast triggered a massive wave of online harassment and pressure that ultimately drove the young creator to take his own life. Law enforcement officials noted that documentary evidence and witness testimonies gathered during the preliminary inquiry substantiate the decision to execute the arrest.
Accused Denies Allegations
In an exclusive conversation, Jason Samuel vehemently denied all charges brought against him by the victim's family.
"I never approached Harish asking for money. I just pointed out what's illegal. Never intended anything further. No bullying. I am shattered. I request all to watch the video. Nothing I said was to bully him," Samuel stated.
The tragic incident has ignited a broader, polarized debate across the digital creator ecosystem. While a significant faction of the online community has rallied behind Harish, condemning rampant cyberbullying, another segment defends Samuel, characterizing his actions as those of a whistleblower exposing unqualified financial advice.
