From Back Office to Brain Office: PM Modi Outlines India's Evolving Global Stance
Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the global community now trusts India's 'mindpower' alongside its 'brainpower' during a major policy address.

A Paradigm Shift in Global Positioning
Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted on Thursday that the international community's perception of India has undergone a fundamental transformation, evolving from a reliance on the nation's raw brainpower to a deep trust in its strategic 'mindpower'. Speaking at a high-profile global policy summit in the national capital, the Prime Minister emphasized that India is no longer viewed merely as an outsourced back office for global corporations, but as a critical 'brain office' driving technological innovation and digital growth.
Highlighting the changing dynamics of the global order, PM Modi noted that international institutions, including the United Nations, are facing unprecedented hurdles in keeping pace with rapid geopolitical realignments. He also pointed to growing global vulnerabilities, noting that trade routes, advanced technology, and economic corridors are increasingly being weaponized amid ongoing international conflicts.
Economic Resilience and Strategic Autonomy
As the world's fastest-growing major economy, India is actively motivating international stakeholders toward collective development and stability, according to the Prime Minister. He detailed the strategic framework governing national policy decisions and capital investments, emphasizing long-term self-reliance.
"Whenever the government formulates policy in any sector or makes investment decisions, there's a thought behind it: which capabilities to develop in India? In which areas to reduce our dependence on other countries? And how to prepare for future crises today," PM Modi stated. He stressed that while certain strategic investments take years to yield visible results, they remain foundational to securing the country's future against external shocks.
Transforming the Pharmaceutical Landscape
To illustrate this long-term policy approach, the Prime Minister highlighted the pharmaceutical sector, where India has long maintained its position as a leading global manufacturer of finished medicines. He pointed out that until recently, the domestic industry relied heavily on imported raw materials. Through targeted policy interventions and domestic capability-building, the nation is successfully altering this dependency, showcasing a broader model for economic resilience that the administration plans to replicate across critical high-tech manufacturing sectors.
