Investigation Underway in the Philippines

Philippine authorities have confirmed that they are actively investigating serious allegations leveled against Thomas Markle Sr., the estranged father of Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex. The 82-year-old is currently the subject of a formal probe after his son, Thomas Markle Jr., reported discovering a collection of suspected child sexual abuse images and videos at his father's former residence in the country.

According to law enforcement sources, Markle Jr. alerted local police and contacted the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) regarding the materials in July. The FBI has acknowledged awareness of the matter, while Philippine Interior Minister Jonvic Remulla confirmed that the national police have seized Markle's computer to conduct a thorough digital forensic examination.

Admissions and Denials

In a recent media interview, Markle Sr. strongly denied possessing illicit images or engaging in sexual activity with underage individuals. However, he openly acknowledged having paid for sex during previous visits to the Philippines, maintaining that his actions did not constitute a criminal offense.

"I have not had my computer or phones for nearly two years. If there is anything bad on there, it was put there by someone else," Markle Sr. stated, adding that he intends to cooperate fully with investigators in both the United States and the Philippines.

Family Fallout and Statements

The unfolding situation has drawn a sharp response from the Duchess of Sussex. In a statement released through representatives, Meghan expressed deep distress over the allegations and emphasized that her thoughts are with any potential victims of child harm.

Reflecting on her ongoing estrangement from her father—which began ahead of her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry—Meghan reiterated that her decision to maintain distance and shield her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, was entirely aimed at protecting them.

Meanwhile, Thomas Markle Jr. has publicly expressed regret for previously siding with their father during the prolonged family dispute, stating that he now believes he was supporting the wrong person.

Markle Sr., who relocated to the Philippines last year following a series of strokes, is currently reported to be staying at a rehabilitation facility in Florida as he undergoes physical therapy.
