Trump Backs Vivek Ramaswamy Over Controversial Ohio Gubernatorial Campaign Ad
US President Donald Trump has defended Vivek Ramaswamy's polarizing Ohio gubernatorial campaign advertisement, dismissing media criticism.

Campaign Ad Sparks Intense Debate
US President Donald Trump has thrown his support behind Republican gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, defending a controversial campaign advertisement that features the estranged mother of his Democratic rival, Amy Acton.
The ad has drawn widespread criticism from both sides of the political aisle due to its inclusion of Arthur, whose husband was accused of abusing Acton during her childhood. In the commercial, Arthur launches heavy criticisms against her daughter.
Trump Defends the Commercial
Taking to his Truth Social platform, Trump praised the broadcast as a "very powerful" advertisement and accused mainstream media outlets of orchestrating a coordinated campaign to force Ramaswamy to pull the spot.
"Vivek should keep it up, and let everyone listen..." Trump wrote, urging the political newcomer to press forward with the campaign strategy amid the intensifying rhetoric of the upcoming November US midterms.
Political Fallout and Rivalry
Ramaswamy, a biotech billionaire who competed in the 2024 Republican presidential primaries, is locked in a competitive race against Acton, a medical doctor and former state health department director, for the Ohio governorship.
Following the release of the ad, Acton issued a public statement detailing her difficult childhood. Despite the controversy, other prominent Republicans, including US Vice President JD Vance, have rallied around Ramaswamy on the campaign trail, signaling strong intra-party backing as the election approaches.
