A Life-Changing Milestone

For Kishore Pandurang Rao, a three-decade journey as an expatriate in the United Arab Emirates culminated in an unexpected and staggering financial windfall. Just days before celebrating his 60th birthday, the Sharjah resident captured the second prize in the UAE Lottery's Lucky Day draw, securing Dh5 million—equivalent to approximately Rs 12.95 crore.

Rao purchased the winning ticket for Dh50 through the official digital platform, opting for the system's 'Easy Pick' number generation. By matching all six numbers in the Days section, he narrowly missed the grand Dh30 million jackpot by a single digit.

From Disbelief to Reality

Reflecting on the moment he discovered his win, Rao admitted he initially mistook the notification for a routine system check.

"I was sitting quietly and scrolling online when I received an email from the UAE Lottery," Rao recounted. "Initially, I thought it was a routine verification email. I was stunned. For some time, I just sat there without knowing what to say or do."

After confirming his victory through news reports and his personal account dashboard, Rao kept the life-altering news private before finally sharing it with his wife. The couple chose to process the milestone within a tight-knit circle before deciding on their next steps.

Family First and Future Plans

Arriving in the UAE in 1993, Rao has lived across Dubai, Ajman, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi over the past 31 years. Having spent extended periods separated from his loved ones due to career demands, his primary objective for the winnings is family unity.

"Especially my wife. Together, we share our ups and downs. Now this opportunity has come, so I have to share it with her and with my children," he said. Rao intends to allocate funds toward supporting his elder son's entrepreneurial ambitions and providing higher education opportunities for his younger son.

Beyond familial support, Rao aims to secure a UAE Golden Visa—a long-held aspiration that he frequently discussed with friends. Furthermore, the couple plans to embark on global travels to satisfy a shared passion for exploring new destinations.

Concluding his reflections on the windfall, Rao urged fellow participants to approach lottery gaming responsibly, emphasizing the importance of strict financial limits.
