A man in Bengaluru was robbed of 226 grams of gold jewellery worth Rs 20 lakh after inviting an online dating app match to a friend's house.

Introduction
Law enforcement authorities in Bengaluru have arrested two individuals in connection with a high-value robbery orchestrated through an online dating application. The incident, which highlights emerging security risks associated with virtual matchmaking platforms, resulted in the theft of gold jewellery valued at approximately Rs 20 lakh.
The Incident at Chandra Layout
According to official police reports, the episode unfolded on October 22 at a residential property located in the Chandra Layout area of the city. The primary resident and his spouse were out of station at the time, having entrusted the house keys to a friend who was temporarily staying at the premises.
During this period, the caretaker connected with an individual via an online dating app and subsequently invited the person to the residence. However, the situation escalated rapidly upon the visitor's arrival.
Threat at Knifepoint and Loot
Investigators stated that the suspect removed a facial mask upon entering the home, revealing their identity. Approximately ten minutes later, a second accomplice arrived at the location.
The duo reportedly cornered and threatened the victim at knifepoint. The perpetrators then forced open a bedroom door, breached a secure cupboard, and made off with 226 grams of gold jewellery.
Police Action and Investigation
Following the return of the homeowner and the filing of a formal police complaint, local law enforcement launched a swift investigation. Utilizing digital trails and local intelligence, the police successfully tracked down and arrested two suspects, identified as Nazia and Syed Moushin.
Authorities have confirmed that further investigations are underway to determine if the suspects are part of a larger, organized syndicate targeting individuals through dating platforms in the metropolitan area. Police have once again urged citizens to exercise heightened caution when meeting strangers introduced through virtual applications.
