Tragedy Over Street Food

A minor street food dispute turned fatal in outer Delhi's Nihal Vihar area, resulting in the death of a 35-year-old private car driver. The victim, identified as Sandeep, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital, police confirmed on Wednesday.

The incident took place on Sunday near the Jwalapuri Nala, where Sandeep had visited a local Sunday market and stopped at a 'chole-bhature' stall. According to investigators and family statements, a violent altercation erupted after the victim requested "extra chole" from the vendor, Chintu Gupta.

Escalation and Arrest

Investigators revealed that the verbal exchange quickly escalated into physical aggression. The vendor allegedly hurled abuses before the situation spiraled into a knife attack. Sandeep sustained severe injuries, including multiple stab wounds to the abdomen and deep lacerations on his arms.

Following the attack, Sandeep was rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital on the night of October 25. He was later transferred to Maharaja Agrasen Hospital in Punjabi Bagh for advanced care, where he tragically passed away on Tuesday.

Delhi Police acted swiftly following the initial report. An FIR was registered under Section 109(1) (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Paschim Vihar West police station. Following the victim's death, authorities upgraded the charges to Section 103(1) (murder) of the BNS. The primary accused, Chintu Gupta, has been apprehended and remanded to judicial custody.

Family Demands Justice

Sandeep is survived by his grieving wife and two young sons, aged four and ten. His father, Bijender Singh, has voiced anguish over the brutal nature of the crime, alleging that multiple individuals were involved in the assault alongside the vendor.

"My son's only fault was that he asked the shopkeeper for some extra chole," Singh stated, demanding that all perpetrators involved in the murder be identified and brought to justice.

Police officials stated that a comprehensive investigation is currently underway to ascertain the exact sequence of events and examine the potential involvement of other suspects at the scene.
