BITS Pilani Expands Full Tuition Fee Scholarships to Top 1,000 BITSAT Rankers
BITS Pilani has doubled its full tuition fee scholarship eligibility from the top 500 to the top 1,000 BITSAT rankers, starting with the 2027 admissions.

Expanding Financial Access to Higher Education
In a significant move to widen access to quality higher education, the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani has announced an expansion of its 100% tuition fee scholarship scheme. Effective from the upcoming admission year through BITSAT 2027, the institution will extend full fee waivers to students securing ranks among the top 1,000, doubling its previous threshold of the top 500 rankers.
The policy change is designed to alleviate financial pressures on high-performing students, ensuring that economic constraints do not hinder deserving candidates from pursuing undergraduate degrees at the institute.
Eligibility Criteria and Academic Requirements
To qualify for the comprehensive scholarship, candidates must meet specific academic and financial benchmarks:
* Entrance Rank: Must secure a rank within the top 1,000 in the BITSAT examination. * Family Income: The candidate's annual family income must not exceed Rs 20 lakhs. * Academic Continuation: Recipients are required to maintain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 7.5 throughout their four-year degree program to retain the scholarship benefits.
Streamlining the administrative process, the institute confirmed that students will not need to submit separate application forms. The scholarship will be integrated directly into their admission offers upon verification of the eligibility criteria.
Institutional Vision and Commitment
According to the administration, the decision to scale up the scholarship program follows a notable increase in enrollment interest among top-tier BITSAT scorers.
Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao, Group Vice Chancellor of BITS Pilani, emphasized the institution's longstanding tradition of financial support. "In the academic year 2025-26 alone, BITS Pilani disbursed about Rs 190 crores in scholarships, fee waivers and fellowships across its First Degree, Higher Degree and Ph.D. programmes," he stated.
Detailing the allocation, Prof. Rao noted that Rs 101 crores were directed toward First Degree undergraduate students through merit, merit-cum-need, and international student scholarships. This financial aid framework currently enables one in every four students across the institution's campuses to receive assistance, with a long-term goal of achieving tuition-free admissions for all.
