During his interaction, the Chief Minister outlined an ambitious blueprint to transform Dr Radhakrishnan Government Medical College into a premier healthcare and educational institution. The comprehensive development plan includes the construction of a modern amphitheatre, a state-of-the-art auditorium, and a dedicated library.
To accommodate the growing student body, separate hostels with a capacity of 300 students each are currently being built for male and female scholars. Furthermore, the college's layout and master plan have been meticulously designed with the expertise of a specialized Japanese firm.
In addition to academic and residential facilities, the state government intends to establish several specialized wings at the campus, including: * A dedicated super-speciality block * A specialized cancer hospital * A fully equipped dental college * A comprehensive nursing college
Global Exposure Initiative for Medical Scholars
Underscoring the government's commitment to modernizing medical education, Chief Minister Sukhu revealed that preparations to send medical students abroad are nearing completion. The initiative will select 10 postgraduate students and 10 MBBS students from each state-run medical college in Himachal Pradesh to receive international exposure.
These selected scholars will travel overseas to observe advanced medical practices, study foreign healthcare delivery systems, and integrate global insights into their clinical training. The administration also aims to leverage artificial intelligence (AI), modern educational technologies, and enhanced research facilities to elevate the standard of healthcare education throughout the state.
