NCERT Launches Five-Day Online Training Series to Promote Down Syndrome Awareness and Inclusive Education
The Central Institute of Educational Technology has initiated a five-day interactive online programme focused on early identification, rights, and inclusive education for individuals with Down Syndrome.

Fostering Inclusion in Classrooms
The Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET), operating under the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), has officially launched a comprehensive five-day online interactive training series focused on understanding Down Syndrome. Running through October 30, the nationwide initiative aims to foster greater social awareness, acceptance, and active integration of individuals with the condition into mainstream educational and community spaces.
Designed primarily for educators, school teachers, special educators, and parents, the daily one-hour sessions run from 12:45 pm to 1:45 pm. Through this structured curriculum, educational authorities hope to bridge knowledge gaps and dismantle societal stigmas surrounding developmental disorders.
Core Objectives and Curriculum
The program's syllabus addresses fundamental aspects of Down Syndrome, detailing its underlying clinical causes, physical and cognitive characteristics, and the legal and human rights afforded to those diagnosed. Special emphasis is placed on practical strategies for inclusive education, enabling classroom teachers to adapt pedagogical methods that support diverse learning needs.
"Building a more inclusive, informed, and accepting society requires proactive engagement from all educational stakeholders," noted organizers in an official communication released via social channels. By targeting the primary influencers in a child's life—teachers, administrators, and caregivers—the initiative seeks to cultivate environments where every student is valued and structurally supported.
Accessibility and Multi-Platform Broadcasts
To ensure maximum participation across urban and rural sectors, NCERT has made the program widely accessible. Interested participants can stream the live sessions directly through the official NCERT YouTube channels as well as dedicated educational streaming portals.
Additionally, the training program is being telecast live on the PM eVIDYA ISL Channel 31, ensuring that educators and caregivers relying on Indian Sign Language have unimpeded access to the material. Education officials have encouraged participants to visit the main portal for supplementary resource materials and ongoing updates regarding future developmental awareness campaigns.
