Uttar Pradesh Government Declares School Closures Across Districts Due to PET Exams and Heavy Rains
Several districts in Uttar Pradesh have ordered school closures for students up to Class 8 due to the ongoing Preliminary Eligibility Test and severe weather warnings.

Administrative Measures Amid Exams and Weather Alerts
Educational institutions across multiple districts in Uttar Pradesh have announced temporary closures following a combination of state-level examinations and adverse weather conditions. The directives, issued by respective district administrations, primarily affect students up to Class 8, while administrative staff and teachers assigned to mandatory duties are instructed to report as scheduled.
The state-level Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) 2026 has prompted authorities in Gautam Buddh Nagar to suspend regular classes. Examinations are currently underway across 32 designated centers spanning two shifts within the district. The District Inspector of Schools issued the closure order to manage logistical demands and ensure smooth conduct of the statewide recruitment screening process.
Inclement Weather Triggers Closures in Shravasti and Ballia
Simultaneously, severe weather forecasts prompted precautionary suspensions in Shravasti and Ballia districts. The India Meteorological Department's heavy rainfall and lightning warnings led the local administrations to prioritize student safety.
In Shravasti, District Basic Education Officer Akanksha Rawat released an official directive mandating closures for all government, government-aided, and recognized private institutions, including those affiliated with national boards such as CBSE and ICSE. While students enjoy a temporary reprieve from classes, educators and faculty members deployed for ongoing census training operations are required to fulfill their assignments without interruption.
Similarly, the District Magistrate of Ballia ordered all schools catering to students up to Class 8 to remain shut. Local authorities have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the safety advisories as heavy showers and thunderstorm warnings persist across the region.
