Ambuja Cements has outlined a Rs 14,500 crore investment to bolster its manufacturing footprint across high-growth domestic corridors.

Strategic Growth Across Key Markets

Ambuja Cements Limited, a prominent building materials provider and part of the Adani Portfolio, has finalized its next phase of expansion. The ambitious growth plan entails an outlay of approximately Rs 14,500 crore aimed at adding 30 MTPA (million tonnes per annum) of cement manufacturing capacity across high-growth domestic markets.

The capital expenditure program will aggressively expand the company's footprint across the East, West, and North clusters, building upon its current pan-India capacity of 113.5 MTPA distributed across 24 integrated plants and 24 grinding units.

Vinod Bahety, CEO of the Cement Business at Adani Group, emphasized the strategic rationale behind the new investments. "Our next phase of expansion is focused on quality of growth and creating a more balanced manufacturing network. By strengthening the link between clinker and grinding capacity and expanding closer to high-growth potential key markets, we are building greater flexibility into the network," Bahety stated.

Strengthening Upstream and Downstream Infrastructure

The planned expansion will elevate the company's total production capacity to 155 MTPA by the fiscal year 2030. The infrastructure blueprint details specific regional additions:

* Grinding Capacities: 15.5 MTPA in the West Cluster, 11.6 MTPA in the East Cluster, and 2.9 MTPA in the North Cluster. * Clinker Capacities: New upstream clinker units are slated for the East cluster at Umrangso in Assam (4 MTPA), and in the West cluster at Maratha (4 MTPA) and Mundra (2.3 MTPA).

According to the leadership team, these additions will not only expand market share but fundamentally drive down manufacturing and logistics expenses.

"Apart from increasing market share, these capacities will also help to reduce manufacturing cost by bringing higher efficiencies. Being closer to the market, it will also help in reducing lead distance and thereby logistics cost. In all, it will pave the journey to achieve a cost of Rs 4,000 PMT by FY28," Bahety noted.

Near-Term Milestones and Operational Progress

Ambuja Cements has maintained steady operational momentum. During the first half of fiscal year 2027, the company successfully added 4.6 MTPA through targeted brownfield and greenfield initiatives, including expansions at Dahej in Gujarat, Kalamboli in Maharashtra, and the Salai Banwa Grinding Unit in Uttar Pradesh.

The near-term project pipeline includes an additional 3.2 MTPA comprising the Bathinda Grinding Unit in Punjab and the Jodhpur Penna Integrated Unit in Rajasthan, alongside the upcoming commissioning of the Warisaliganj Grinding Unit in Bihar during the second half of FY27.

Since its acquisition by the Adani Portfolio, Ambuja has successfully completed 11 capacity projects, scaling up cement capacity by 16.3 MTPA and clinker capacity by 9.0 MTPA.
