Andhra Pradesh Braces for Severe Cyclone: CM Naidu Cancels Delhi Trip, Orders Round-the-Clock Bulletins
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu cancelled his Delhi visit to oversee cyclone preparedness as a brewing depression threatens to hit the coast.

Emergency Review in Amaravati
With a severe cyclonic storm threatening the coastline of Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has cancelled his scheduled official visit to New Delhi. The Chief Minister opted to stay back in the state capital to personally monitor disaster preparedness and oversee ongoing relief operations following the recent impact of Cyclone Arnab.
During a high-level review meeting, state disaster management officials briefed the Chief Minister on the rapid intensification of a prevailing weather depression over the Bay of Bengal.
Threat Trajectory and Landfall Projections
Meteorological assessments indicate that the depression is poised to intensify into a deep depression before strengthening into a severe cyclonic storm over the west-central Bay of Bengal by November 2. Officials predict the system will make landfall near Bapatla on the morning of November 3, bringing destructive gale-force winds ranging between 100 and 110 kmph.
State authorities have issued severe weather alerts across South Coastal and Central Coastal districts. Moderate to heavy downpours, with isolated instances of extremely heavy rainfall, are forecasted for November 2, escalating significantly across multiple regions on November 3 and 4.
Targeted Vulnerability and Infrastructure Safeguards
State administration mapping has identified 20 mandals highly vulnerable to extremely heavy precipitation. This includes nine mandals in Eluru, five each in Krishna and NTR districts, and one in Bapatla.
Anticipating severe infrastructural damage, particularly to power grids across 12 districts, Chief Minister Naidu directed the energy department to pre-position specialized repair crews, heavy machinery, and replacement electric poles ahead of the landfall.
"Preparedness and swift communication are our strongest defenses against nature's fury," the Chief Minister emphasized during the briefing.
Directives for Communication and Relief
To ensure transparency and prevent panic, the state government has mandated the issuance of official cyclone bulletins every four hours. Furthermore, telecom operators have been instructed to deploy emergency backup systems to maintain uninterrupted mobile connectivity throughout the crisis.
Meanwhile, the government is expediting final restoration efforts in areas previously impacted by Cyclone Arnab. Officials confirmed that electricity and basic municipal services in those zones are on track to be fully restored by Sunday night as the state braces for the next wave of severe weather.
