Jharkhand Station Rape: Three Police Personnel Arrested, 14 Suspended Following SIT Probe
A sub-inspector and two constables have been arrested, and 14 police personnel suspended, following an SIT probe into the alleged rape of a woman inside a Jharkhand police station.

Investigation Leads to Multiple Arrests
Authorities in Jharkhand's Seraikela-Kharswan district have arrested a police sub-inspector and two constables in connection with the alleged rape of a woman inside the Gamharia police station. The latest arrests bring the total number of individuals taken into custody to three, marking a severe escalation in accountability within local law enforcement.
The incident, which reportedly occurred on the night of October 29, prompted the immediate formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT). The investigative panel was established under the directives of Seraikela-Kharswan Superintendent of Police (SP) Manoj Swargiary to uncover the facts surrounding the security breach and criminal allegations.
Sweeping Suspensions Across the Precinct
Following the submission of the SIT report, the SP's office acted swiftly. Suspended sub-inspector Manoj Sahu and constable Santosh Rai were taken into custody on Sunday. A third constable, arrested earlier in the inquiry, was remanded to judicial custody by a local court on Saturday.
The fallout has resulted in a sweeping overhaul of personnel assigned to the precinct. In total, 14 police officers and staff have been suspended for dereliction of duty, lack of alertness, and severe tarnishing of the department's image.
* Initial Suspensions: Gamharia Police Station's Officer-in-Charge Inspector Sanjay Prasad, sub-inspectors Manoj Sahu and Anirudh Singh, Havildar Muneshwar Kumar, and constable Santosh Rai. * Subsequent Actions: Sub-inspectors Ajay Paswan and Lalan Ravidas, assistant sub-inspectors Vishu Oraon, Mukesh Kujur, Mukesh Ravidas, and Sitaram Singh Pahan, along with Havildars Pitambar Mahato and Bahadur Hansda, and constable Manoj Gorai.
Background of the Case
According to the preliminary police complaint, the victim stated that she had engaged in an altercation with her husband on the evening of Thursday, October 29. Fearing physical retaliation, she left her home, subsequently leading to the events that transpired at the police station.
Senior officials have assured that the SIT investigation remains ongoing and comprehensive, with further departmental and legal actions anticipated as the judicial process unfolds.
