Kiren Rijiju Slams Congress Over 'Fake' AI Crowd Images From Ramlila Ground Rally
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has criticized the Congress party for allegedly using AI-generated images to inflate crowd figures at a recent opposition rally in New Delhi.

Political Row Erupts Over Rally Visuals
A major political controversy has broken out following a high-profile opposition rally at New Delhi's Ramlila Grounds, with the ruling administration accusing the Congress party of deploying artificial intelligence to artificially inflate crowd sizes on social media.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju led the charge against the opposition, taking to social media to highlight what he described as fabricated visual narratives. Rijiju specifically pointed out images shared by Congress parliamentarian Vamsi Gaddam and other party functionaries, claiming the digital manipulation exposed the opposition's inability to draw genuine public support.
"Even the fake AI photo to show that Ramlila ground was full is not done properly by the fake narrative team of Congress Party," Rijiju posted, sharing comparative details of the contentious digital graphics.
Competing Claims Over Turnout
The dispute over attendance numbers quickly escalated into a broader political confrontation between the BJP and the INDIA bloc. The ruling party dismissed the opposition gathering as a comprehensive failure, asserting that significant portions of the venue remained unoccupied during the proceedings.
Addressing a press briefing, BJP MP and spokesperson Sambit Patra claimed that nearly 40 percent of the Ramlila Grounds was empty, starkly contrasting with the Congress party's initial projection of a ten-lakh turnout. Patra dismissed the opposition's visual evidence as trick photography, questioning the viability of their broader political strategy.
In response, Congress leaders defended the success of the mobilization by releasing alternative drone footage and photographic evidence, maintaining that hundreds of thousands of citizens turned out to voice their grievances.
Focus Shifts to Election Integrity Allegations
Beyond the debate over crowd management, the Ramlila Grounds rally served as a platform for the opposition to level serious accusations against the election administration. Senior opposition figures targeted Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, alleging systemic flaws and manipulation in the recent electoral cycles.
During his address at the event, opposition leaders characterized the 2024 electoral process as compromised, calling for accountability and structural reforms within the poll panel. The protest marked the culmination of a sustained campaign by the opposition bloc, which included a symbolic impeachment proceeding against the CEC led by senior party leadership ahead of the public demonstration.
