Pune Woman's Death Sparks Outrage: Banquet Hall Vandalised as In-Laws Flee
A 33-year-old woman's tragic death by suicide in Pune has led to massive public outrage and the vandalism of her father-in-law's banquet hall over dowry harassment allegations.

Tragedy Strikes Mukund Nagar
PUNE — A profound sense of shock and grief has gripped Pune following the tragic death of a 33-year-old woman in the city's Mukund Nagar area. Payal Akshay Zhambre, who had been married for six to seven years and was a mother to a four-year-old daughter, was found dead by suicide at her residence on Tuesday morning.
Local authorities received an emergency call at approximately 11:00 AM, prompting a swift response from local police units who secured the scene and transferred the body for a mandatory post-mortem examination.
Allegations of Dowry Harassment and Vandalism
Following the news of Payal's death, high tensions erupted outside Zhambre Palace, a prominent wedding venue and banquet hall in south Pune owned by the victim's father-in-law. A large group of angry relatives and locals gathered at the premises, resulting in extensive vandalism of the property.
Protesters alleged that Payal was driven to extreme steps due to persistent demands for gold and ongoing domestic harassment by her husband and in-laws. According to preliminary police investigations, the tragedy stems from an escalating family dispute.
Police Investigation and Manhunt
Authorities have confirmed that Payal's husband and immediate in-laws have gone into hiding and are currently on the run. A heavy police deployment remains stationed around the banquet hall and the surrounding neighborhood to maintain law and order.
Payal came from a prominent background; she was the daughter of the owners of Nakshatra Palace in Khed Shivapur, whose family had organized a grand wedding for her years prior. Her grieving family has announced plans to file a formal, detailed police complaint to ensure a thorough criminal investigation.
