Punjab Government Disburses Rs 1,291 Crore Under 'Sanman Rashi' Welfare Scheme
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann transfers Rs 1,291 crore directly to over 37.43 lakh women under the Mukh Mantri Mawan-Dheeyan Satkar Yojna.

Direct Financial Aid Reaches Millions
ABOHAR — The Punjab government has stepped up its financial empowerment initiatives, disbursing Rs 1,291 crore in 'Sanman Rashi' directly into the bank accounts of over 37.43 million women across the state.
Addressing a massive public gathering in Abohar, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced that the Mukh Mantri Mawan-Dheeyan Satkar Yojna is designed to bring one million women under its comprehensive welfare umbrella. To date, nearly 8 million registrations have already been successfully completed across various districts.
Describing the initiative as a foundational "social revolution," CM Mann emphasized that the direct benefit transfer mechanism is engineered to strengthen women's financial independence, self-confidence, and dignity.
Broadening Welfare and Grassroots Recognition
During his address, the Chief Minister noted that the administration had previously disbursed Rs 2,643.71 crore to 76.35 million beneficiaries under the scheme. With the latest tranche, total financial assistance distributed under this head has reached Rs 3,934.80 crore.
Highlighting the administrative architecture behind the rollout, Mann acknowledged the vital role played by grassroots workers. A total of 137,723 'Satkar Sakhis' and numerous Anganwadi workers facilitating registrations will receive financial incentives amounting to Rs 51.30 crore and Rs 25 crore respectively, ensuring that frontline facilitators are duly recognized for their efforts.
Responding to Political Criticism
Addressing political opposition from parties including the Shiromani Akali Dal and the Congress, Mann asserted that the scheme makes no political distinctions. He pointed out that female members of opposition leaders' families are also receiving benefits, despite public criticism from political figures.
"The money being distributed belongs to the common people who contribute to the state exchequer through taxes," Mann stated, adding that the administration remains committed to returning public funds through expanded infrastructure, healthcare facilities, and targeted welfare initiatives.
