Local police in Gurdaspur have registered statements and launched an investigation into the assault.

Gurdaspur Land Dispute Turns Violent

A serving soldier of the Indian Army, currently home on leave, was brutally attacked and injured by his mother, brother, and several relatives in Punjab's Gurdaspur district. The violent confrontation erupted amid a long-standing property dispute involving agricultural land and a recently constructed commercial shop.

The incident took place in Sainpur Abbal Khair village. According to the victim's wife, Simmi Saini, her husband, Wazir Singh, had previously constructed a shop and legally registered it in his name. Tensions escalated when Singh's family members allegedly orchestrated a meeting near the property under the guise of resolving a dispute stemming from his brothers taking illegal possession of his agricultural land.

Ambush and Mobile Recording

Investigators noted that as soon as Singh stepped out of his vehicle upon arriving at the designated location, he was ambushed by his relatives armed with sticks. Simmi Saini stated that she rushed to the scene upon hearing of the assault, only to be targeted by the relatives as well. During the ensuing altercation, Saini managed to capture the entire incident on her mobile phone, with the footage later circulating widely.

Following the attack, Saini claimed that her husband was rushed to the Government Hospital in Gurdaspur in an unconscious state. However, she alleged that the attending medical personnel neglected proper treatment due to external pressures from the attackers. Fearing for her husband's safety, she discharged him and brought him home, where he is currently recovering under close watch.

Police Investigation Underway

Saini further alleged that the family continues to face active threats to their lives and remain confined to their residence, adding that the accused have placed unauthorized locks on a separate property purchased by the couple.

Local law enforcement has stepped in to handle the fallout. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Jai Singh, the lead investigator on the case, confirmed that the injured soldier's formal statement has been recorded. Authorities stated that the matter is being thoroughly investigated and that appropriate legal action will be initiated against all named individuals.
