Investigation Unravels Deception

A 39-year-old man in Rajasthan's Karauli district has been arrested for allegedly murdering his eight-month-old daughter and orchestrating an elaborate false accusation against his extended family to settle a bitter property and personal dispute, local law enforcement officials revealed on Sunday.

The accused, identified as Ramdev Jatav, a resident of Khede Ka Pura in Hindaun City, was taken into custody on Saturday night following a rigorous investigation led by the Nai Mandi police station.

The Initial False Complaint

The grim sequence of events began on October 28, when Jatav filed a formal police complaint. In his statement, he alleged that his elder brother's sons—Ramveer, Deendayal, and Hiralal—along with their respective wives, Pooja and Priyanka, had launched a violent assault on him using wooden sticks.

Jatav claimed that during the altercation, his nephew Ramveer struck his eight-month-old daughter on the head, resulting in fatal injuries. The infant was rushed to a nearby hospital, where attending physicians pronounced her dead upon arrival. Acting swiftly on the distraught father's testimony, police registered a murder case and initiated a formal inquiry.

Eyewitnesses Expose the Truth

However, as investigators probed deeper into the neighborhood and gathered testimonies from eyewitnesses and local residents, a drastically different narrative emerged.

According to police findings, Jatav had engaged in a violent domestic dispute with his wife, Reshma, on October 27. Following the quarrel, Reshma fled the home toward a nearby railway track, prompting local villagers to intervene and persuade her to return safely.

The marital discord flared up again the following morning. When Jatav's nephew, Ramveer, stepped in to defuse the escalating fight, a heated argument erupted between the two men. Enraged by the confrontation and the ongoing family tensions, Jatav allegedly turned his fury toward his infant daughter, killing her by violently throwing her against a stone.

Arrest and Legal Proceedings

Karauli Superintendent of Police (SP) Lokesh Sonwal confirmed that the cumulative evidence, corroborated by independent eyewitness accounts, dismantled Jatav's initial claims and established his direct culpability in the homicide.

"The investigation clearly points to the father's involvement in the tragic death of the child, executed in an attempt to frame his relatives," SP Sonwal stated. Following the breakthrough, Jatav was formally arrested on Saturday night, and authorities have indicated that further investigations are actively underway to ensure a thorough judicial process.
