Secunderabad: Teenager Run Over By Train While Wearing Earphones, Police Issue Safety Warning
A 17-year-old boy lost his life after being struck by a train near Bolarum Railway Station in Secunderabad while trespassing and using earphones.

Tragedy Strikes Near Bolarum Railway Station
A 17-year-old boy tragically lost his life after being run over by a train near the Bolarum Railway Station in Secunderabad. Authorities confirmed that the fatal incident occurred while the teenager was walking along the railway tracks while using earphones, cutting him off from the sounds of the approaching locomotive.
The victim was identified as Tholuchuri Vivek, a resident of Thurkapally village in the Alwal area of Secunderabad. According to railway officials, his body was discovered beside the down line during the afternoon hours following an emergency alert. Personnel from both the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Government Railway Police (GRP) rushed to the scene to initiate a preliminary investigation.
Investigation and CCTV Verification
Initial recovery at the scene included an iPhone 16 Pro Max found in the victim's possession, along with a pair of white earphones discovered nearby. While initial suspicions pointed toward an accidental pedestrian collision, questions raised by the victim's father, Krishnamurthy, prompted law enforcement to conduct a deeper review.
Investigators subsequently examined closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the vicinity. The video evidence confirmed that unauthorised trespassing onto the active railway tracks, compounded by the use of earphones, served as the primary contributing factors to the fatal accident. A formal case has been registered under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) as inquiries continue.
Authorities Issue Urgent Safety Warnings
In the wake of the tragedy, railway authorities have issued a stern reminder to the public, urging citizens to strictly avoid trespassing on railway tracks and to refrain from using electronic listening devices near transit corridors. Officials emphasized that wearing earphones drastically impairs situational awareness, preventing individuals from hearing warning horns or the rumble of oncoming trains.
Reinforcing the message, senior law enforcement officials, including Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, have repeatedly cautioned citizens against using earphones while navigating active transport zones or roads. Authorities reiterated that railway tracks are restricted, highly dangerous zones and appealed to youth to prioritize safety over mobile phone usage and music.
