Investigation Underway in Southeast Delhi

Delhi Police have launched a thorough investigation following the grim discovery of a 45-year-old woman's decomposed body inside her locked apartment in southeast Delhi’s Kalkaji area. The deceased, identified as Sona, was found living alone in the Govindpuri Extension neighborhood.

According to law enforcement authorities, the incident came to light on Sunday when local residents alerted the police control room about an overwhelming foul odor emanating from the residential unit. Neighbors reported that the apartment had remained securely locked from the inside for approximately 8 to 10 days.

Police Entry and Forensics

Responding swiftly to the distress call, a team of local police personnel, accompanied by fire service units and a specialized crime scene investigation squad, arrived at the location. Due to the doors being securely fastened from within, authorities were forced to break open the entrance to gain access. Law enforcement confirmed that the entire entry procedure was meticulously recorded on video to maintain strict procedural integrity.

Upon entering the premises, officials discovered the heavily decomposed body lying on the floor. Preliminary physical inspections conducted at the scene revealed no immediate signs of forced entry, external struggle, or visible criminal activity pointing toward a violent altercation.

Next Steps and Post-Mortem

Investigators have transferred the remains to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) mortuary, where a formal post-mortem examination will be conducted to ascertain the exact cause and approximate time of death.

Meanwhile, local authorities are working to establish contact with the victim's immediate family. Police confirmed that ongoing efforts are being made to reach out to the woman's sister, who reportedly resides in Kolkata, to brief her on the tragic developments and assist with further investigative protocols.
