Tragedy in Sultanpur: Five-Year-Old Boy Killed by Stray Bullet During Wedding Celebratory Firing
A five-year-old boy lost his life after being struck by a bullet during celebratory firing ahead of a wedding procession in Uttar Pradesh's Sultanpur district.

Wedding Celebration Turns into Mourning
A joyous family gathering in Uttar Pradesh's Sultanpur district turned into an unspeakable tragedy on Sunday evening when a five-year-old boy was killed by a stray bullet during celebratory gunfire. The incident has once again brought to light the deadly hazards of illegal celebratory firing during social events in the region.
According to local law enforcement authorities, the incident unfolded in Futehari Banke village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Kadipur police station. The victim has been identified as Arsh Patel.
The Sequence of Events
Preliminary investigations indicate that the tragedy occurred just moments before a wedding procession was scheduled to depart. A relative of the young victim, identified as Ajay, allegedly discharged a firearm into the air as part of the celebratory rituals.
Instead of firing safely into the open air or without live ammunition, the gunfire struck young Arsh Patel, inflicting critical injuries.
Rushed to Hospital
Panic ensued immediately following the shooting. The boy's mother, Amrita Patel, accompanied by frantic family members, rushed the critically injured child to the Kadipur community health centre. Due to the severity of his wounds, attending medical professionals quickly referred him for advanced emergency care at the Government Medical College in Sultanpur.
Despite the urgent medical intervention, doctors pronounced the boy dead upon arrival.
Police Investigation Underway
Circle Officer Vinay Gautam confirmed that a comprehensive investigation has been launched into the fatal shooting. Authorities have transferred the victim's body for a post-mortem examination to officially determine the exact cause of death.
Police teams are currently conducting raids and actively searching for the absconding accused, Ajay, who faces serious criminal charges related to culpable homicide and violations of firearms regulations. Law enforcement officials have reiterated their zero-tolerance stance on illegal celebratory firing, promising swift legal action against those responsible.
