Supreme Court Directs Expelled JDU MLA Anant Singh to Surrender by Dec 1 in Murder Case
The Supreme Court has ordered expelled JDU MLA Anant Singh to surrender by December 1 in the Dular Chand Yadav murder case, setting aside Patna High Court's earlier bail.

Legal Blow for Mokama Legislator
In a significant legal setback for expelled Janata Dal (United) MLA Anant Singh, the Supreme Court of India has directed the controversial Mokama legislator to surrender by December 1 in connection with the high-profile Dular Chand Yadav murder case.
A bench comprising Justices M M Sundresh and Prasanna B Varale issued the directive while hearing a crucial petition challenging the bail granted to Singh. The petitioner had sought the immediate cancellation of his liberty, pointing to the gravity of the charges.
Background of the Case
Anant Singh was initially arrested in October of last year following allegations that he orchestrated the murder of Dular Chand Yadav. However, the Patna High Court subsequently granted him bail in March this year, a decision that drew intense scrutiny and led to the Supreme Court challenge.
Alongside his legal troubles, Singh and former legislator Neelam Devi were recently expelled from the JD(U) for a period of six years, citing ongoing anti-party activities as the reason for their removal from the political fold.
Investigation Timeline
During the proceedings, the apex bench specifically instructed the Bihar Police to expedite the ongoing probe. Law enforcement authorities have been mandated to complete the comprehensive investigation into the murder case within a strict timeframe of four months.
The Supreme Court has scheduled the matter for further hearing after the completion of the four-month window, ensuring continued judicial monitoring of the case's progress.
