Courage Under Fire in Sangareddy

In a display of remarkable grit, a woman farmer in Telangana's Sangareddy district successfully thwarted a daylight chain-snatching attempt, fighting off two assailants with a wooden log before they were taken into custody by local law enforcement.

The incident unfolded on Thursday while the victim, identified as Kishtamma, was working in an agricultural field. According to police reports, two men approached her on a motorcycle under the guise of asking for directions. Seizing a moment of vulnerability, the perpetrators attempted to violently snatch her gold mangalsutra, valued at approximately three tolas (30 grams).

Quick Thinking and Community Action

Refusing to yield to the attackers, Kishtamma raised an alarm and put up fierce resistance as the suspects attempted to flee the scene on their motorcycle. Her cries for help quickly alerted other farmers working in adjacent fields. Displaying rapid solidarity, the local farmers gave chase and successfully intercepted the fleeing duo.

Undeterred by the danger, Kishtamma confronted the cornered suspects directly. Armed with a wooden log, she delivered several blows to the perpetrators, managing to successfully recover her stolen jewelry before authorities arrived.

Police Action and Criminal History

Officers from the Jinnaram police station rushed to the scene following distress calls and took both suspects into custody.

Preliminary investigations identified the accused as Vadde Sailu, a resident of Mucherla village, and Aravind, hailing from Meenampally village—both located within the Hathnoora mandal of Sangareddy district. A subsequent background check revealed that the duo possessed extensive criminal records, with documented involvement in at least four prior theft cases.

Based on a formal complaint filed by Kishtamma, the local police registered an FIR, formally arrested the accused individuals, and subsequently remanded them to judicial custody as investigations continue.
