Rapid Response Averts Tragedy in Chhatari Town

BULANDSHAHR — Quick coordination between local police, disaster response forces, and district administration averted a potential tragedy early Friday morning when an under-construction two-storey building collapsed in Chhatari town, located within Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr district.

According to local authorities, the structure suddenly gave way at approximately 1 a.m. while construction work was underway. The unexpected collapse sent shockwaves through the immediate neighborhood, prompting alarmed residents to immediately notify emergency services.

Multi-Agency Rescue Operation

Emergency response teams—including local police personnel, district administration officials, and fire department units—rushed to the site within minutes of the alert. Given the severity of the structural failure, specialized support was swiftly mobilized.

An Additional District Magistrate (ADM) from the Finance and Revenue Department confirmed that teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were deployed to lead the excavation efforts. A Multi-Disaster Response Vehicle was also dispatched from the neighboring Aligarh district to reinforce the operation.

Search and rescue personnel successfully extracted all three trapped individuals—one woman and two men—from beneath the heavy rubble.

Medical Condition and Site Clearance

Medical evaluations conducted at the scene indicated that the female survivor did not sustain serious injuries and remained in stable condition. Meanwhile, the two male victims were immediately rushed to a nearby medical facility for urgent care and monitoring.

Following the extraction of the victims, NDRF teams deployed specialized canine units to comb through the debris and ensure no other individuals remained trapped beneath the wreckage.

Broader Safety Concerns

Friday's incident in Bulandshahr echoes ongoing concerns regarding structural safety and adherence to construction protocols during building expansions. Authorities have launched a preliminary inquiry to determine the exact cause of the collapse and to evaluate whether safety standards were compromised during the ongoing construction work.
