Fatal Incident at Ujjain Hotel

Four people tragically lost their lives due to suspected suffocation while cleaning a waste chamber at a private hotel in Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain city. The incident, which has sparked widespread concern over workplace safety standards, occurred late Saturday night around 11:00 PM at the Shri Ganga Hotel located along the Ujjain-Dewas road.

According to local police authorities, the victims became trapped inside the subterranean waste chamber while attempting to clean it. Despite immediate rescue efforts and emergency medical intervention, the workers could not be revived.

Rescue Efforts and Casualties

Ujjain Superintendent of Police Pradeep Sharma briefed reporters on the sequence of events, stating that four individuals initially entered the chamber before getting trapped by toxic fumes and lack of oxygen.

Upon being pulled out by local police personnel, emergency responders administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) at the scene. The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital, where attending physicians pronounced them dead upon arrival.

The deceased have been formally identified as Kamlesh Tamboli, Nitin Valmik, Manoj Meena, and Wahid.

In a harrowing turn of events, two other individuals who rushed into the chamber in an attempt to rescue their trapped colleagues also fell ill due to the hazardous environment. They were quickly transported to the hospital for medical treatment and have since been discharged after making a full recovery.

Official Investigation Underway

Local administration and law enforcement agencies have launched a thorough inquiry to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the tragedy. Ujjain District Magistrate Roshan Kumar Singh confirmed that investigators are examining whether the workers entered the chamber as part of routine maintenance tasks or if they accidentally fell into the hazardous enclosure.

Forensic teams and municipal inspectors have visited the site, and the bodies of the victims have been dispatched for comprehensive post-mortem examinations to ascertain the precise cause of death.

Government Response and Compensation

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who hails from Ujjain, expressed deep anguish over the fatal incident. Taking to social media, the Chief Minister announced immediate financial assistance of ₹4 lakh for the grieving families of each deceased victim.

"News of the tragic death of four people in an accident while cleaning a chamber at a private hotel in Ujjain is deeply painful. My condolences to the bereaved families," Chief Minister Yadav posted. He further added that he has directed state authorities to ensure all possible support is extended to the affected families during this difficult time.
