Uniform Civil Code Will Be Implemented in UP if BJP Returns to Power: Amit Shah
Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that the BJP will implement the Uniform Civil Code in Uttar Pradesh following the upcoming assembly elections.

Major Policy Announcement in Lucknow
Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced on Friday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttar Pradesh if the party returns to power in the upcoming state assembly elections. Addressing the party's state working committee meeting in Lucknow, Shah expressed firm confidence in the political stability and future electoral success of the ruling administration.
The high-level meeting, held at the Dr Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University auditorium, was chaired by BJP state president and Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary. Key leaders, including Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, BJP state in-charge Vinod Tawde, and national general secretary Smriti Irani, were also in attendance.
"This time, when the government comes to power, UCC will be implemented in Uttar Pradesh. UCC has already been implemented in many states," Shah stated, emphasizing the party's legislative agenda.
Targeting Opposition and the Ram Temple Issue
Shifting his focus to the opposition, Shah launched a scathing critique of the Samajwadi Party (SP) and its leadership, referencing historical events surrounding the Ram temple movement. Bringing up the police firing on kar sevaks in Ayodhya on October 30, 1990, the senior BJP leader questioned the moral authority of opposition parties.
"I want to ask them, on what grounds do they talk about forming a government? They ordered firing on Ram devotees, while we have built the Ram temple," Shah remarked.
Addressing SP President Akhilesh Yadav directly, Shah claimed that the opposition party would remain out of power for decades, stating that the public would not support their political lineage.
Dismissing Electoral Irregularity Claims
Shah also addressed recent allegations raised by opposition parties regarding voter list irregularities and vote theft. Comparing their complaints to a defeated sports team blaming the referee, he reiterated the government's willingness to debate the issue openly in Parliament.
"After losing the match, they are blaming the umpire and alleging vote theft. The BJP is ready for a discussion in Parliament. Let them come today and convene a special session. We are ready to answer every question," Shah asserted.
The daylong session commenced with the Union Home Minister lighting a ceremonial lamp and paying floral tributes to portraits of party ideologues Syama Prasad Mookerjee and Deendayal Upadhyaya, setting the tone for the party's campaign strategy heading toward the electoral cycle.
