Call to Action Against the Drug Menace

In the wake of the tragic killing of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota in Mansa, Sri Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj has issued a strong appeal to the global Sikh community. He has called upon the Guru Khalsa Panth to organize special congregations at gurdwaras across India and international borders on October 28.

The primary focus of these gatherings will be to offer prayers for justice for Jhota’s grieving family and to seek the well-being, safety, and progress of the younger generation in Punjab, who continue to face severe threats from rampant substance abuse.

The Threat of Synthetic Drugs and Termite Analogy

Addressing the gravity of the situation, the Jathedar described the drug menace as a destructive force eating away at the state's youth like a termite. He issued a stern warning regarding the proliferation of synthetic drugs and pharmaceutical supply chains, stating that if governing authorities fail to dismantle these criminal networks immediately, the future consequences for society will be catastrophic.

Furthermore, Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj urged all segments of society to stand firmly behind Jhota's family, offering maximum support in their ongoing legal and social fight for justice.

Spiritual Guidance and Government Intervention

Highlighting the teachings of the Sikh Gurus, the Jathedar noted that while drug abuse has grown into a global challenge, Gurmat strictly prohibits intoxicants, guiding followers toward a truthful and pure existence.

He emphasized that young individuals trapped in the cycle of addiction can reclaim their lives through unwavering determination and a spiritual connection to the Gurbani of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. However, he stressed that individual resilience must be matched by structural reform.

Calling for decisive state action, the Jathedar demanded specialized government rehabilitation measures to reintegrate affected youth into the societal mainstream. In addition, he advocated for a total social boycott of individuals engaged in drug trafficking, coupled with uncompromising legal action against offenders to eradicate the network from its roots.
