Investigation Underway After Newlywed Collapses in Hotel Corridor

JHANSI — A 28-year-old newlywed woman died under mysterious circumstances outside a hotel room in Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi district, triggering a police investigation and allegations of foul play from her family.

The victim, identified as Muskan, had been married to Nilesh for approximately four months, having tied the knot on June 29, 2026. The couple, hailing originally from Vidisha in neighbouring Madhya Pradesh, were staying overnight at the Rishabh Hotel in the Sipri Bazar area of Jhansi.

CCTV Footage Captures Final Moments

The incident, which occurred at around 10:50 AM on Monday, came to light after a 47-second closed-circuit television (CCTV) clip from the hotel corridor surfaced publicly. The footage shows the couple and another individual walking down the hallway toward their room. As Muskan reaches the doorway, she suddenly collapses to the floor. Her husband is subsequently seen returning to pick her up and carrying her inside the room.

According to local authorities, hotel staff and the husband rushed Muskan to a nearby hospital via auto-rickshaw, where medical personnel declared her brought dead.

Police Action and Family Allegations

Following the tragedy, Muskan's parental family rushed to Jhansi and lodged severe allegations against her husband, claiming criminal culpability in her sudden death. Relatives also alleged that Nilesh had been previously married, adding complexity to the ongoing inquiry.

Superintendent of Police (City) Preeti Singh stated that the Sipri Bazar police station received information regarding the incident from the district hospital.

"Police teams immediately rushed to the hospital and questioned the victim's husband, who was present at the scene," SP Singh said in an official briefing. "He stated that while they were checking out of room 212, his wife suddenly collapsed on the threshold and her condition rapidly deteriorated."

Authorities have secured the hotel premises, inspected the scene, and reviewed the corridor surveillance footage. The body has been shifted to the mortuary for a comprehensive postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Police have detained Nilesh for sustained questioning. Officials emphasized that further legal action will depend strictly on the findings of the autopsy report and the ongoing forensic investigation.
