Political Tensions Flare in Tadipatri

High political drama unfolded in Andhra Pradesh's Tadipatri region as senior Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader J.C. Prabhakar Reddy staged an unusual overnight protest outside the Tadipatri Rural Police Station. Lying on a bed placed directly outside the station gates, Reddy demanded immediate police action following an alleged attack on party workers in Thimmampalli village.

The protest was sparked by violent clashes between rival TDP and YSRCP supporters in Thimmampalli village, located under the Yellanur mandal. According to local reports, members of both political factions engaged in stone-pelting, with TDP supporters accusing YSRCP workers of targeting and vandalizing their houses during the confrontation.

Deep-Rooted Political Rivalry

The latest flare-up highlights the fierce and longstanding political rivalry in the region between J.C. Prabhakar Reddy and former YSRCP MLA Kethireddy Pedda Reddy. Prabhakar Reddy, a veteran politician belonging to the influential J.C. family and a former chairman of the Tadipatri Municipality, has deep grassroots ties in the area.

His primary political rival, Kethireddy Pedda Reddy, represented the Tadipatri Assembly constituency from 2019 to 2024. After defeating Prabhakar Reddy's son, J.C. Ashmit Reddy, in the 2019 elections, Pedda Reddy subsequently lost the seat back to the family in the 2024 polls. Despite the electoral defeat, he remains a central figure for the YSRCP in the Tadipatri-Yellanur belt, with both camps commanding substantial local followings.

Escalating Unrest and Police Response

As Prabhakar Reddy's protest drew significant public and media attention, the situation on the ground deteriorated further. Unidentified individuals reportedly vandalized the residences of two YSRCP leaders, prompting a large crowd of TDP supporters to gather outside Kethireddy Pedda Reddy's home.

The rapid escalation forced local authorities to intervene swiftly. Heavy police deployments have been enacted across Tadipatri and surrounding areas to restore public order, prevent further retaliatory violence, and maintain peace between the rival political factions.
