Investigation Underway After Tragic Discovery
An 18-year-old nursing student was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Uttar Pradesh's Firozabad district, triggering public outrage and a formal murder investigation. The victim, identified as Preeti, was a first-year General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) student at the Firozabad College of Nursing and hailed from the neighboring Mainpuri district.
According to local law enforcement, the tragic incident came to light on Wednesday morning when fellow hostel residents noticed Preeti's absence during breakfast hours. Subsequent searches of her room yielded no results, prompting hostel authorities to notify campus administration and local police.
Timeline of Events and Police Findings
Circle Officer Tejas Tripathi detailed the preliminary findings of the investigation, noting that authorities reviewed campus CCTV footage to retrace the student's final known movements.
"Footage indicates that the victim left the college premises alone at approximately 2:30 am after scaling the boundary wall," Tripathi stated. Hours later, local authorities received reports regarding an unidentified woman's body discovered near Mauda Kaneta village. Police teams rushed to the scene, where family members subsequently identified the deceased as Preeti.
Following the completion of the post-mortem examination, tensions flared at the district headquarters as grieving family members and local supporters staged a road blockade to demand swift accountability.
Family Accusations and Legal Action
The victim's brother, Rohit, has publicly accused the college principal, Suresh Daksh, and his son, Yash, of orchestrating the killing. Based on the formal complaint lodged by the family, local police have registered a criminal case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to murder, alongside other relevant legal provisions.
Authorities have assured the victim's family that a thorough and impartial probe is underway to determine the exact sequence of events leading to the young student's untimely death. Forensic teams are analyzing physical evidence gathered from the scene, while questioning institutional staff and students as part of the ongoing inquiry.
