Elaborate Deception Uncovered

Law enforcement authorities in Uttar Pradesh have arrested a murder suspect who went to extraordinary lengths to evade justice, utilizing artificial intelligence, fabricated municipal documents, and even a dead goat to stage his own elaborate death.

Rajkumar Rajbhar, 38, was apprehended by the Kotwali Nagar police, assisted by the Special Operations Group (SOG) and local surveillance teams, near the Khwajajahanpur locality on Sunday morning. Rajbhar had been living freely for nearly a year and a half after successfully convincing a court that he was no longer alive to stand trial.

The 2016 Murder Case and AI Plot

Rajbhar was facing trial for the December 2016 fatal shooting of Yogesh Singh near the Munshipura railway line. A murder case had been registered against Rajbhar and his associate, Sudarshan Rajbhar, following a complaint by the victim's nephew, Avinash Singh.

According to investigators, Rajbhar hatched a bizarre plan while out on bail. On May 30, 2025, in Ghazipur, he executed a scheme where a dead goat's torso was placed under a shroud on a funeral pyre. He then used artificial intelligence to superimpose his own face onto photographs of the cremation and funeral procession.

Fraudulent Documents and Financial Motives

Armed with the AI-generated imagery and fabricated witness accounts, Rajbhar managed to secure an official death certificate from the Mau Municipal Council. This document was duly submitted to the court handling his murder trial to terminate the proceedings.

However, police investigations revealed that escaping the murder charge was not Rajbhar's only motivation. Additional Superintendent of Police Anoop Kumar stated that Rajbhar, who worked as a stock market trader after failing to clear his Class 12 examinations, had allegedly collected substantial sums of money from prominent individuals across multiple cities under the guise of market investments.

Authorities believe Rajbhar orchestrated his fake death both to evade the impending legal consequences of the murder trial and to avoid returning the invested capital to his creditors.

Legal Consequences

Following his capture, Rajbhar now faces fresh criminal charges for forgery and fraud, in addition to the resumption of the original 2016 murder trial. Police confirmed that all forged documentation and digital evidence used in the hoax have been seized as the investigation continues.
