BJP Launches Nationwide 'Save Democracy' Campaign

NEW DELHI — In a direct pushback against the opposition's aggressive strategy regarding electoral roll integrity, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Nitin Nabin has taken to the streets to launch the party's counter-offensive.

Kicking off his maiden street campaign since assuming office, Nabin led a high-profile padyatra (foot march) in Delhi's historic Chandni Chowk area. The demonstration forms part of the BJP's broader nationwide campaign, titled "Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy" (Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao), which runs through November 5.

Confronting Opposition Allegations

The ruling party's mobilization comes in response to sustained pressure from the INDIA opposition bloc, spearheaded by Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge and Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi. The opposition alliance has raised serious concerns regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, accusing authorities of irregularities and what they term 'vote theft.' Furthermore, opposition leaders have sought the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

The BJP's counter-campaign aims to dismantle these allegations. According to party leadership, the objectives are threefold: to defend the credibility of democratic institutions, to highlight what the party calls opposition double standards, and to reaffirm public trust in constitutional electoral processes.

High-Level Party Mobilization

Nitin Nabin’s street march precedes a major opposition rally scheduled at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan, where the INDIA alliance hopes to gather massive crowds alongside a planned 'mock parliament' session.

Recognizing the high stakes—particularly with crucial assembly elections looming in five states early next year, including the politically vital state of Uttar Pradesh—the BJP has adopted an assertive posture. Senior leadership is heavily invested in the counter-strategy. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is slated to join similar padyatras in Hyderabad and Karnal, alongside multiple state chief ministers and senior cabinet ministers.

Grassroots Engagement and Metropolitan Marches

Massive foot marches are being organized across major metropolitan cities and administrative district headquarters nationwide, targeting substantial participation numbers per event.

Beyond street marches, Nitin Nabin has utilized 'Youth Dialogue' (Yuva Samvad) sessions across various states to engage directly with younger demographics, sharpening the party's critique of the Congress's electoral roll campaign and emphasizing the administration's narrative of national development.
